Appeals against planned extension of Skellig Hotel
PLANNING permission granted by Kerry County Council for an extension to the Skellig Hotel will be reviewed by An Bord Pleanala following the submission of two appeals.
Objections were submitted to Bord Pleanála by local landowners Jonathan and Michael T Moriarty, and Ricky and Dawn Keane, owners of Emlagh House which has the Skellig Hotel in its line of sight to the mouth of Dingle harbour.
The appeals highlight several concerns, including the height of the proposed development, the impact on Dingle and the shoreline as well as the possibility of increased traffic hindering access to the Coastguard station.
The application for the extension, which is three storeys high in some parts and four storeys high in others, was granted planning permission by Kerry County Council but this decision will now be re-examined by An Bord Pleanala.
