Intermediate School Killorglin: an established reputation for education across Mid Kerry
THE Intermediate School Killorglin has a distinguished reputation for education in Mid Kerry for over 100-years. Today, the school continues to be at the centre of excellence in modern education with a professional team of staff dedicated to enriching the overall student experience.
“The school is primarily about learning and the aim is to give a more rounded education to each student. The goal is personal development, parallel to academic achievement. We also acknowledge that each student is different and has unique talents and abilities and we support everyone to achieve their potential,” said School Principal, Joe O’Dwyer.
“We have a proud tradition and the school has always had a deserved reputation for academic results and these results have always gone in tandem with a focus on extra-curricular activities such as sport, music and drama, school tours and public speaking. We’re very happy to see past pupils succeed in every walk of life,” he added.
The Intermediate School Killorglin views its proud tradition as a platform on which students can avail of better opportunities and recent investment in terms of school infrastructure is an example of the school building towards a better future.
“We’re always investing in our facilities and keeping everything modern and up to date. For example, we’re extremely proud of our new science building and we’re always considering new developments and projects for the school,” said Joe.
Regular entertainment and performance is a staple of school life at the Intermediate School Killorglin and an award-winning classical pianist will perform there on December 1. This will be followed by the annual school concert on December 5 and 6 with further events scheduled to take place throughout the winter. It’s all happening at Intermediate School Killorglin where student life is never dull and participation and inclusion is always encouraged.
