It all starts this Sunday when we travel to Knockaderry in county Limerick, the club that hosts all the games, to play the Clare Junior B champions Banner GAA Club from Ennis. They recently beat Doonbeg after a replay to become Clare champions.

The game has a throw-in time of 2pm and we would urge all our supporters to make the trip as the lads begin their bid for Munster glory. They have enjoyed a good year so far, winning the county novice title and following that up with promotion to Division 4 of the county league. They are doing, and deserve our support.

This is a competition that holds happy memories for us as we won it back in 2008, becoming the first Kerry side to do so. That year we beat St Oliver Plunketts from Cork in the decider (1-8 to 0-8). The Cromane team and scorers that day were: Liam Walsh; Peter O’Reilly, James Foley, Noel O’Reilly; John O’Sullivan (0-1), Colm Joy, Michael Teahan; Donnchadh Walsh (captain, 0-2), Francis Casey; Niall Dennehy (0-1), Paul Patrick O’Sullivan (0-1), Seán O’Sullivan (0-2); David Moroney, Eoghan Walsh (1-0), Sean Walsh (0-1). Subs: Micheál O’Shaugnessy for Seán O’Sullivan, Colin O’Sullivan for Eoghan Walsh, Clinton Griffin for David Moroney, Fionan Walsh, JP McCarthy, Emmet Casey, Sean Reilly, Cian O’Keeffe, Liam Teahan, Connie Riordan, Colm O’Shea, Finbar Casey, David Galvin, Anthony Houlihan, Jerome Houlihan, and Noel Foley.

The winners of Sunday’s game are scheduled to play the Tipperary winners in the Munster Junior B semi-final on Sunday, December 3, again in Knockaderry, County Limerick.

Best of luck again on Sunday lads! CLUB GEAR: This Friday (November 17) is your chance to order Cromane GAA club gear in time for Christmas. The popular GAA gear store -- theGAAstore. com =97 is in Cromane to show you what you can get.

CURROW

CURROW LADIES FOTBALL CLUB: The Season is fast coming to and End for our Players, and it is great that we have been involved in a Raft of Semi Finals and Finals over the last Few Weeks. Our U12 team finished off their Season when they put on a fabulous performance to have a great win over Firies in the East Kerry Division 4 Final on a score of 8-09 to 2-05. The team was trained by Mikey Curtin and Margo BrosnanOur Under 14 Team have had a forthnight not to be forgotten for a long time. After a fabulous 3-06 to 2-04 win over Kerins O’Rahilly’s in the North Kerry Division 4 Final 2 weeks ago they had a trilling win over Glenflesk in Currow on Sunday last Nov 12th in the East Kerry Division 3 Final. Trailing by 3 points to a much more physically stronger Glenflesk Team at half time on a score of 0-03 to 2-00, and playing against the wind in the second half things didn’t look very good for our girls. But that was without taking into account the determination and never say die attitude of these young ladies who kept playing away and picking off their points and a Kaithlin Twomey goal with 10 minutes to go reduce the lead to a point. Currow then missed a number of chances to level the game before Glenflesk swept up the field to score what looked like the winning point. Still trailing by two points with time up after a fabulous team move involving Hillary O’Connor, Danielle Moriarty, Cara Fleming, Julie Curtin, Clodagh Coffey and Caithlin Twomey saw Emma Buckley crash the ball to the Glenflesk Net to put us into the lead for the first time. Glenflesk then made one last attack to try and equalise only for our Goalie Fiona Brosnan to pull of one of her many excellent saves to ensure we would win the game on a score of 2-05 to 2-04. This was a fabulous performance by our young Team who were trained by Pat Conway, Dave Fleming and Moss Leane. Currow Team: Fiona Brosnan, Hillary O’Connor, Danielle Moriarty, Aoife Fleming, Emma Buckley, Doireann O’Sullivan, Julie Curtin, Cara Fleming, Brid Curtin, Clodagh Coffey, Megan Dennehy, Caithlin Twomey, Aoife Roche, Alva Fleming, Elaine Cronin, Jennifer Culloty, Allanagh Butler SENIORS: Our Senior team lost to Austin Stacks in the County League Division 3 Semi Final a couple of weeks ago, and it was dissapointing on the day because of Work and College committments and injuries we struggled to field a Team after topping the League for most of the Year. On Sunday last we faced Legion in the East Kerry Division 3 League Final and again we had to field without 5 Regular Players, which greatly weakened out Team. However the girls who took to the Field, many of them Under 16’s, put on a great performance as always and ensured the result of the game was in doubt up to the final minutes. Legion with a Team full of Kerry under age stars made a whirl wind start and led 0-3 to no score after 10 minutes.

A point by Margo Brosnan from a free settled the Currow Girls and we went on to add further points from play from Louise Nelligan, Ciara Fitzgerald, Fiona Nelligan McGuire and Colleen Breen, and when Eileen Cronin after a surging run from Midfield planted the ball to the top of the Legion Net we led by 3 points. Legion got an opportunist Goal when the ball rebounded from the Currow cross bar from a free to get them back into the game and Fiona Nelligan McGuire with a fabulous point on the run tied up the scores 1-06 to 1-06 at half time. With both sets of Backs on top in the second half and Leona McEnery pulling off some great saves in the Currow Goal we traded points with Legion with Margo Brosnan from a Free, Colleen Breen and Ciara Fitzgerald adding further points for Currow. However Legion’s stronger panel where they were able to bring on strong Subs in the last Quarter began to tell and they added the last 3 points to run out winners on a score of 1-12 to 1-09. The Currow Team was trainer by Dave Fleming and Moss Leane. The Currow Team was: Leona McEnery, Anna Fitzgerald, Kerri McCarthy, Pataire Fleming, Ellie Daly, Edel Brosnan, Erin O’Connor, Eileen Cronin, Emir O’Shea, Ciara Fitzgerald, Fiona Nelligan McGuire, Anna Scanlon, Louise Nelligan, Colleen Breen, Margo Brosnan, Emily O’Sullivan.

DR CROKES

MUNSTER SENIOR CLUB SEMI FINAL: Played in Lewis Road on Sunday 12th of November

DR CROKES 2-19 KILMURRAY IBRICKANE0-10

Right through the first half one would not have expected to win by such a big margin. We had the benefit of the breeze in the first half but our opponents equalised our two points of the first ten minutes of the half with two of their own. We had three points and a goal in the fifteenth minute by Johnny Buckley to leave us 1-5 to 0-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. Our goal came at a time when we had squandered three good goal scoring chances. Our opponents also missed a great chance of a goal during this period. Kilmurray had the first score of the second quarter, a point but the defining minutes of the game came in the next tweleve minutes when we sent over six unanswered points to go eleven points clear. The Clare lads had the last score of the half, a point to leave us 1-11 to 0-4 ahead at the interval.

The teams exchanged points on three occassions in the first ten minutes of the second half. After the teams exchanged points again, we struck for a goal at the end of the third quarter. This was the score that our opponents needed and it more or less ended the game as a contest as we now led 2-15 to 0-8. The Clare lads never gave up but were too far behind at this stage to fashion a last quarter victory.

Like the curates egg we were good in parts but it will take more than this display to win the Munster Final.

Team and Scorers: Shane Murphy, John Payne, Mike Moloney, Luke Quinn, David O’Leary 0-1, Fionn Fitzgerald, Gavin White 0-1, Johnny Buckley 1-0, Ambrose O’Donovan, Micheal Burns 0-2, Gavin O’Shea 0-2, Colm Cooper 0-9 (0-5 frees), Daithi Casey 0-1, Kieran O’Leary 1-1, Brian Looney 0-1 Subs: Tony Brosnan 0-1, Paul Clarke, Shane Doolan, Eoin Brosnan, Jason Lyne, Johnny O’Leary

Best of luck for a speedy recovery to our goalkeeper Shane Murphy who had to retire injured in the first half. FR. GALVIN CUP - Fossa played Firies in Farrenfore in the Fr Galvin Cup semi final on Saturday afternoon. Conditions were very wet and it made for difficult conditions with the ball being very slippy. Fossa started well with a goal from Donald O’Sullivan after 3 minutes, Firies did score a goal shortly afterwards but Fossa replied with 3 points, one being a peach of a point from a 45 by Paudie Clifford. Then in the 14th minute, Tadgh O’Shea slotted home a penalty to give Fossa a very healthy 5 point lead at that stage. Fries fought back into the game with a brace of points and a goal in the 24th minute, however Fossa steadied the ship with a point from the excellent Donald O’Sullivan, David Clifford scored a brilliant goal and Paudie Clifford kicked another fantastic 45. This left the half time score Fossa 3-06, Firies 2-06. The second half was a low scoring afair, both sides were quite defensive. Fossa defended really well led by Anthony Wharton and Derry O’Sullivan, who scored an excellent point in the 10th minute after a searing run forward. Paudie Clifford had an outstanding game at centre field, working really hard and being central to everything and the forwards worked very hard with David Clifford and Tadgh O’Shea leading the line very well. Firies needed a goal but were never given the chance with a water tight Fossa defence, David Clifford and Tadgh O’Shea kicked a couple of superb points to ensure a place in the final against Listry. Final score was Fossa 3-10, Firies 2-10. The Aquila Club Man of the Match was deservedly won by Derry O’Sullivan who produced a fine display at corner back.

U-16 EAST KERRY FINAL - It was an early start for Fossa U-16s on Sunday morning for their East Kerry Div 3 final v Kilcummin. This was always going to be a tight game and it certainly proved to be that way. The lead changed hands on a number of occasions during the half. Emmett O’Shea was the Fossa danger man and he had 6 of the Fossa points at half time with the other coming from the boot of Killian Buckley. The defensive effort of Richard Wallace and Ruairi Doyle in shackling the Kilcummin danger men was superb and Fossa lead 0-7 to 1-3 at the half time break.

The second half started very brightly for Kilcummin and they had a goal and a point inside the first 5 mins. This seemed to kick Fossa into action and they quickly responded with a great goal from Darren Cronin following a magic pass from Emmet O’Shea. O’Shea then followed this with 3 unanswered points. Kilcummin were not going away and kept in touch with some points of their own. At this stage both Eoin and Colm Talbot were dominating the middle of the field and with Harry Buckley, Darren Cronin and William O’Brien working tirelessly it looked as if Fossa would hold on for a thrilling win. However, this is sport so it is never straightforward and with 2 mins to go disaster struck when an effort for a point flew into the top corner of the net to give Kilcummin a one point lead. The Fossa lads rallied but could not find the score to take it to extra time. After a thrilling encounter the game finished on a final score of Fossa 1-12, Kilcummin 3-07.

It is always difficult to lose a game like this, but credit to the lads for giving it everything. Also credit to Kilcummin for a very exciting and sporting game. On the positive side this is a young Fossa team with 11 of the team underage again next year and they will be back. Scores. E O’Shea 0-10 (2 frees), Killian Buckley 0-2, Darren Cronin 1-0.

KILLARNEY LEGION

LEGION LADIES With all the action winding down on the field now is the time for reflection on the year just gone. It is a testament to the work being done in the recent past that we find the Ladies side of the club in a healthy position. With numbers on a par to the boys this year we fielded teams in all age groups from U12 to senior. And to demonstrate the progress being made, all bar 1 of those teams won a trophy or in some cases two.And the one team who didn’t lift silverware, the U14s,had a busy year, reaching 2 finals and the advance in their play was evident all year. The U12 girls won honours at East Kerry and County level as did the U16s.And as recent as last weekend our Senior ladies won their 4th trophy in as many years. They won the East Kerry Division 3 final by beating Currow 1-12 to 1-9. This was a particularly satisfying win as Currow had beaten them twice already this year in the County competitions . This victory
