Eggleston is new Ballybunion GM

BALLYBUNION Golf Club have announced the appointment of John Eggleston as their new General Manager to replace Vari McGreevy who departed in September.

Mr Eggleston, who is currently Commercial Director of Sam Macauley Chemist Group, will take up office on December 4.

A graduate of Trinity College in 1996 with a BSc (Pharm) and the Smurfit Business College at UCD with an MBA in 2002, Mr Eggleston joined the Sam Macauley group in 2003 and spent ten years as manager of their Tralee outlet at Manor West. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2008 before assuming the role of Commercial Director in 2013.

A native of Abbeyfeale, he has been a member of Ballybunion for a number of years and served as Secretary of the Club’s Management Council for a period as well as being a member of the club’s All-Ireland-winning Jimmy Bruen panel in 2015.

He becomes the sixth manager in Ballybunion’s 124-year history following in the footsteps of Ted Brick, Seán Walsh, Jim McKenna, Simon Duffield and Vari McGreevy.
