It’s winter, be rodent ready and protect your home and business

-

WINTER is when we should exercise caution the most if we want to ensure unwelcome guests like rodents are kept outside. The cold weather encourages rodents to be a little more intrusive and it pays to be aware of the simple ways you can deter them. Things like securing gaps, repairing broken pipes, limiting rubbish and food waste around the home and property helps.

Pests are a serious health threat and cause damage to property when chewing electrical wires and grazing on furniture. Rodents can also ruin the reputation of a business, particularly food businesses where pests should never be allowed to gain a foothold as they multiply quickly. The sooner a householder/business owner takes action the better the outcome.

Seal any holes and fit bristle strip around doors to reduce the chances of rodents finding gaps and don’t attract rodents by carelessly discarding food. Keep refuse bins closed and kept tidy. Make sure all pipe-work is in good nick. Keep clutter to a minimum around the garden and business as this will encourage rodents to take shelter and nest. Following these simple measures can dramatically reduce the chances of you encountering unwanted pests in your home and business this winter. If rodents are already a problem you should hire a professional pest control company sooner rather than later.
