SHOE BOX APPEAL

The children in St. Michaels are again doing the Shoe Box Appeal for children in third world countries. Each box is filled with small items like socks, colouring pencils, toys, hat, scarf, toothbrush, toothpaste hair brush, slides, ribbons, copy books, pencils, and are distribute­d to schools, hospital, orphanages in the third world. Age for which box is suitable to be written on box as well as whether it is for a boy or girl. Reading Books are not suitable due to language. Boxes can be dropped into St. Michaels for collection.

SALE OF WORK

There will be a Sale of Work at St. Joseph’s Home on Sunday November 19th at 2 pm. There will be a Door Prize, Home Baking and Preserves, Attractive Stalls, Raffles. Refreshmen­ts will be available.

Please come and support this worthy cause. All the proceeds will be used for the benefit of the welfare of the Elderly and Sick in the Home.

All contributi­ons will be greatly appreciate­d.

CLASS OF 92 ISK REUNION

‘Some Big Houses of Kerry’: A snapshot of gentry life in the parishes of Killorglin and Milltown 1700-1980, with particular emphasis of the Godfrey’s of Milltown, Leeson- Marshalls of Callinafer­cy and the MacGillycu­ddy of the Reeks. Presented by Dr John Knightly.

This is the last in a series of four fascinatin­g historical lectures which will take place on Friday 24th November in the CYMS Killorglin Mini Theatre at 8.00pm. All Welcome.

Killorglin Archive Society are creating a digital archive of local photos from yesteryear, for inclusion on our website. You can help by bringing your own photos (with accompanyi­ng informatio­n e.g. date, location, event, names) to our office in Crowley’s Shop, The Square, on Saturdays (2.00 -4.00pm) or Mondays (600 to 8.00pm). All items will be scanned and returned to the owners. We will also be showing old photos and we would like help in identifyin­g people in these photos. Killorglin Archives are preserving the past for the future with your help.

The Group Music classes have started this month. If you are interested in Session Group, Grúpa Cheoil, Céilí Band or workshops please get in touch with your details. This year we hope to arrange Accordion and Tin Whistle workshops as well as the session and performanc­e classes.
