Ardfert snappers showcase a year of stunning images at County Library

NOW into its sixth year, the Ardfert Camera Club’s annual photo exhibition has become a well entrenched event in the local social calendar and, according to member Steve Baker, it’s going from strength to strength each year.

“We have over 60 pictures on display in the exhibition and I think it’s safe to say that it has probably been our biggest and best exhibition so far,” said Steve, speaking to The Kerryman on Monday morning.

Currently running in the Kerry County Library in Tralee until Saturday, December 2, the photo exhibition is a culminations of a hard year’s work for the members of the camera club and Steve is keen to emphasise this point.

“It’s going very well so far. There’s no overall theme to the show because it’s important to remember that this exhibition is not a competition and it’s not about who has the best photo. It’s about celebrating the great photos and the best work that our members have taken over the last 12 months,” he continued.

Steve and the rest of the members of the club are encouraging as many people as possible to come to the exhibition during the week and see some of the great images on show there, and says if they were feeling extra generous, all photos in the exhibit are on sale.

“All the photos are there to be bought, hint hint,” he laughed, “there is a programme down in the library that shows all the pricing and sizing of photos that we offer as well,” he added.

Anyone interested in joining the Ardfert Camera Club is more than welcome to come along to one of their meetings, Steve says.

“We meet every second Thursday in the Abbey Tavern Lounge Bar and we go through a variety of workshops on various topics, so anyone should feel free to come down,” he finished.
