KLAWS charity shop relocating

- By STEPHEN FERNANE

THE hardworking animal welfare crew at Kenmare Locality Animal Charity (KLAWS) will be moving to a new shop on Kenmare’s Railway Road on Friday, December 8 at 12noon.

KLAWS has enjoyed a very productive year in their old premises and were also awarded charity status in 2017. But with the future in mind, it was always felt a move to a bigger premises - one fronting the main street - would give the shop better profile and help boost the charity’s main source of funding which goes towards helping and rehoming abandoned cats and dogs.

“We have decided to relocate to a bigger rental unit which has become available at SuperValu on Railway Road. The unit is outside, as opposed to in the Mall, which we hope will help attract more people to the store,” said Denise Rawson of KLAWS.

Denise also said that KLAWS is very appreciative of current landlord who has allowed them to continue trading while awaiting the finish of their new store. She added that it’s been a tough year, financially, for KLAWS but the charity shop is one of their main sources of income and the support from the public is enormous and very much appreciated. “With the added footfall of the shoppers at SuperValu, and the nearby supermarkets, we’re hoping the new shop will go from strength to strength. The income it generates is desperately needed as the uncertainty surrounding animal welfare,” Denise added.

Christmas is also a time when people consider getting a new dog or cat but the message from KLAWS is a clear one: why not give an abandoned animal a second chance in life?

KLAWS would like to extend an invitation to everyone for the grand opening and there will be mulled wine and nibbles.
