The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)

Chronicle highlights history of Kenmare streetscapes

-

THE 2018 edition of the Kenmare Chronicle was launched recently in Florry Batt’s Bar on Henry Street Kenmare with a large crowd in attendance. Amongst those present at the launch were representatives from businesses on the street that were featured in the latest production as well as people from the town whose contributions of articles and photographs make such books possible.

This is the sixth edition in the series and this year the publication focused on chronicling the changing life of Henry Street. The 168-page book charts the life of each building on the street with maps, historical information, photographs – both old and new – and a series of historical articles that chart the planning and development of the town.

Compiled by Simon Linnell and designed and published by Dennison Design in Kenmare, the publication will provide a point of reference in the future.

The collecting of information and photographs of Henry Street is still ongoing and can be seen on the Kenmare Chronicle’s Facebook page. Material for the 2019 publication, focusing on Main Street and The Square in Kenmare, has begun.

Priced at €15 the Kenmare Chronicle is available in Kenmare Post Office as well as other outlets in the town and can be ordered mail order by contacting info@kenmarechronicle.com.
