Open invite this Friday evening for Chamber Alliance Christmas party
CASTLEISLAND Chamber Alliance has issued an open invitation to its now annual Christmas Party which will take place on this Friday, December 1, from 5pm to 6.30pm.
Earlier in the day, Monsignor Dan O’Riordan will bless the town crib at The Fountain on Lower Main Street at 10.30am.
“This year, due to safety concerns, the main event will take place off-street on the Walsh Bros Electrical car park to the rear of the Centa Supermarket,” said a spokesperson for the chamber.
“There will be live music and entertainment and we will be serving free Fairtrade Hot Chocolate in association with Castleisland Community College.
Santa will be on hand to meet the children and the evening will finish a spectacular fireworks display.
“As our Christmas event is becoming more popular we want to ensure that it is enjoyable for children with special educational needs.
“Children with an intellectual or physical disability or children with additional sensory needs will have a special private audience with Santa.
“Ear plugs will available for anyone who wants them. Likewise if any of our local children use noise reducing earphones, please feel free to bring them along,” said the spokesperson.
The Fairtraders of Castleisland Community College will be serving the Fairtrade Hot Chocolate at the event on Friday.

“Chocolate is one of the world’s favourite foods but growing cocoa is a tough task. Fairtrade is helping to make it more sustainable,” said Castleisland Community College teacher and Fairtrade promoter, Doreen Killington.
“Ninety per cent of the world’s cocoa is grown on small family farms by about six million farmers who earn their living from growing and selling cocoa beans.
“Farmers remain in poverty as their incomes fail to keep up with rising production costs.
“Fairtrade helps to make cocoa farming more sustainable through payment of the Fairtrade premium to farmers. “
“This has helped support farming families meet their daily needs. So why not be the change you wish to see in the world and buy Fairtrade,” Ms. Killington urged.
