Dedication leads to success for St Patrick’s teams
THE last few weeks have been very successful for a number of teams from St. Patrick’s Secondary School.
The senior soccer team have won their first two games in the Munster senior cup competition defeating Millstreet 7-1 in the first game at home and defeating Mitchelstown 5-1 in the second game away. The first year soccer team travelled to Caherciveen to play Coláiste na Sceilige but unfortunately lost 2-1 in a great game and great credit to both teams for an excellent game.
In the Kerry post primary schools football Moynihan shield competition the boys have reached the final of this competition defeating Causeway Comprehensive in the semi-final. The senior footballers have reached the semi- final of the Joe O’Connor Cup where they are due to play Rathmore in the next week.
The First year Rugby team had great success in the first year rugby blitz with was played at Tralee Rugby Club this week. They defeated the first year teams from CBS The Green, Tralee and from Mercy Mount Hawk, Tralee. The Senior Rugby team also had a great win in the Munster Senior O’Brien cup quarter final defeating ISK Killorglin 25-15. They are now preparing for the semi-final of this competition.
The U-16 and U-19 Basketball teams got their campaigns off to a winning start with the U-16 team defeating Castleisland Community College 60-12 and the U-19 team also defeating Castleisland Community College 49-31. The first year basketball team has come together and are preparing for the first year competition which begins after Christmas.
“Great praise is due to all our teams and their teachers and coaches for the great commitment they have given to training and for the great disciplined and spirited commitment they show at all times when representing their school. Well done boys and keep up the great work,” urged Principal Denis O’Donovan.
