Killorglin see off Ennis

-

Killorglin 10 Ennis 7

KILLORGLIN drew first blood in the opening minutes with a well converted penalty from the boot of Dave Coffey.

The game opened up then with both teams showcasing some great attacking play. Ennis had a good chance to level the game with a penalty but ran the ball instead of kicking and the chance was lost.

They attacked with menace once more and it took an excellent steal from Cian Foley to prevent an Ennis try. Ennis were not to be denied, however, and a good drive from a scrum saw them go over for a converted try to see them take a 7-3 lead in at half-time.

A good pick and drive saw Killorglin’s Timmy Lynch drive over the line right under the posts for a try early in the second half, with Dave Coffey converting to push them 10-7 ahead.

Killorglin lost their discipline thereafter, and the concession of soft penalties would hurt them for the rest of the contest. With eight minutes left to go in the game Tony and Timmy Lynch were shown yellow cards for late tackles.

The Clare side pressed hard, and Killorglin were grateful to intercept an Ennis line-out near the try line and clear the danger. The final whistle sounded soon afterwards and Killorglin were three point victors.

Killorglin travel to Fethard next Sunday for a big top of the table clash.

Bantry 31 Rugby Corca Dhuibhne 6

CORCA Dhuibhne trevelled to the west Cork venue with just 15 players and the absence of some key players would prove costly as Bantry hit them for four tries.

Corca Dhuibhne are suffering from An Gaeltacht’s run in the Munster championship and with West Kerry championship also in full swing they are down a number regular starters.

Corca Dhuibhne had two penalties from Tipi Delaney, but their lack of strength in depth would ultimately cost them on the day.
