Castleisland stay top after Killorglin win
Castleisland 25 Killorglin 5
CASTLEISLAND stayed on top of the table with a very strong performance against Killorglin.
Both teams tried to play a quick passing, offloading game which was high risk in the weather conditions, but made for some excellent rugby. Castleisland hit the visitors for five tries from Pat Fitzgerald, Podge Brosnan, Denis Horan, David Griffin and Shane Coffey, while Cathal Sheehan, Oisin Shanahan, Ewan Meyler and Dylan O’Sullivan gave excellent performances.
For Killorglin, Cian O’Connor, James Prendeville, Peadar Whelan, Colin Griffin and Donncha Crowley all battled hard. Killorglin’s only try came in the second half when a turnover ball was spread quickly to Donnacha Crowley who broke a number of tackles to touch down under the posts and Shane O’Connor converted.
MUNSTER U-18 CONFERENCE 2 Castleisland/Abbeyfeale 36 South Kerry 5
SOUTH Kerry made the long journey to Abbeyfeale last Saturday and were met with a very strong Castleisland / Abbeyfeale side that are playing right at the top of their form at the moment.
Stephen Murphy got the home side off to a good start with a penalty before Mark McCarthy went over for a good try which Murphy duly converted. Kerry minor footballer Eddie Horan then scored a try to take Castleisland / Abbeyfeale into the half time break with a healthy 15-0 lead.
South Kerry were the first off the mark in the second half when Darragh Fitzgerald went over the whitewash to give them renewed hope. Unfortunately that was as good as it got for South Kerry as two tries from David Shanahan, which were converted by the accurate Murphy, saw Castleisland / Abbeyfeale take the spoils on a 36-5 scoreline. Others to impress for Castleisland/Abbeyfeale were Darren O’Donovan and Ethan Reidy.
Tralee 29 Listowel 5
TRALEE accounted for Listowel with ease and outscored them by five tries to one. Listowel were competitive for most of the game and the scoreline didn’t really reflect the excellent effort that they put in with Conor Lynch scoring their only try after a superb team move.
