Annascaul Inch 0 Asdee Rovers 1

ASDEE Rovers preserved their unbeaten run since the start of the season and moved up to third in the table at Mounthawk Park on Sunday morning after a 1-0 win over Annascaul / Inch United in a very close and competitive game.

The first half was pretty even with Asdee starting with the aid of the breeze but they were very nearly caught on the break twice by their opponents . They had one great chance near the end of the first half but Joe Lynch was denied by a great block by the Annascaul / Inch keeper Mark Sheehy.

Annascaul / Inch also had a big shout for a penalty turned down. Asdee got the break through five minutes into the second half when a great run by Padraig O’Neill into the Annascaul goalmouth ended with a foul in the box and referee Anthony Morrison awarded a penalty kick. Joe Lynch dispatched the spot kick past Mark Sheehy in clinical fashion.

With the aid of the strong wind Annascaul / Inch put a lot of pressure on the Asdee defence in the second half and Eoin Tydings in the Asdee goals was forced to make a few important saves to preserve the Asdee lead.

Annascaul / Inch should have grabbed a late equalizer when Eamon Hickson was found unmarked at the back post but he headed the chance over the bar for a big let off for Asdee but they were delighted at getting a good three points on the road.
