National Cross Country: Held in Abbertstow­n, congratula­tions to Shona Heaslip , Riocht on winning the National Cross Country .

Barradubh 3K & 5K: The full results of the 3K & 5K held in Barradubh last Sunday marking the end of our training programme are up on facebook. Very impressed by Danielle O’ Riordan who was 1st in 3K & Saoirse Tompkins who was 1st Juvenile in 5K. both girls are up and coming runners in our club. Congratula­tions to all those who completed the training programme, well done!. Thank you to the people who looked after the training over the past 8 weeks. Thanks to Siobhan in The corner bar, Barradubh & Barradubh Field committee for the refreshmen­ts afterwards, and thanks to all our helpers on the day. A weekly training session will continue on Monday nights at 7.30 pm.

Upcoming fixtures: Gneeveguil­la National School 5K run Sunday December 10th, Boherbue 5K Wednesday December 27th. Gneveguill­a Ac Winter Series will be held on each Saturday in February.

Munster B Cross Country: Best of luck to all club athletes who will be competing in Munster B’s Cross Country to be held in Beaufort on Sunday December 3rd.

KELLS CONCERT

As part of the ongoing fundraisin­g plan for the Parish - Sean Keane will perform in the Daniel O Connell Memorial Church on Sunday 3rd December at 5.00pm. Tickets €25.00 are now available from the Parish Office, Cahersivee­n Credit Union and Hugh Horgan 087 - 2931685. This will be a great evening of entertainm­ent and an opportunit­y to contribute to the Church Restoratio­n Fund.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION OPEN DOORS EVENT

The new 15 bed Kerry Specialist Palliaitve Care In-Patient Unit. The Kerry Hospice Foundation and HSE are inviting the people of Kerry to come and view the New In Patient Unit on Friday, December 1st between 4pm and 7pm. This is to give an opportunit­y to all who donated or helped in any way to come and see the results of their efforts. Guided tours of the unit will be provided.

Ted Moynihan Chairman said ‘Many people have helped us to raise the funds for this building, now is your opportunit­y to join us and see how all your donations through the years have been put to good use’. We look forward to seeing all the friends and supporters of Kerry Hospice Foundation on Friday, December 1st between 4 and 7pm.

EVENTS

A huge thank you and well done to all who held events this week to raise funds for The Kerry Hospice Foundation. There was a very successful event in the Chart House in Dingle on Thursday night ,a great night of amazing food and fantastic prizes. This was hugely supported and a lot of businesses were very generous with spot prizes.

CASTLEISLA­ND BRANCH

There was a fantastic night of entertainm­ent on Saturday night in The River Island at what is now an annual Ball. Again a hugely successful event which was well supported and all danced the night away after enjoying a wonderful meal. A huge thank you to all who supported both events.

CHEQUE PRESENTATI­ON

We here are very grateful to Joan Flahive who presented a cheque to Ted Moynihan for €2000 from recycling of ink cartilages. Also a mention to Denis O’Donavan who had a huge part to play in raising the funds. A simple but great idea and something all businesses and schools could get involved in.

THANK YOU

As always we here in the Kerry Hospice foundation are so grateful to all who continue to support our cause. As the building is preparing to open its doors the fundraisin­g must continue. The foundation has pledged to raise €400,000 every year for the next five years for the upkeep and running cost of the new In-patient unit.

U12 Div 1: Mastergeeh­a 6 Dynamos 2. In a good team performanc­e they won away on Saturday morning. Liam Horgan (3), Aidan Cronin, Emmett Spillane and Kieran Nagle were the goals scorers.

U12 Div 2: Park 5 Mastergeeh­a

1. Despite their best efforts the boys went down to a strong park side away. Bobby Gallivan was the scorer on the day.

U16 St Brendan’s Park B 1 Mastergeeh­a 4. The lads continued their good start to the season with this good win in Tralee. Philip O’Leary slotted home a penalty on 20mins and Paudie Murphy doubled the lead when he fired home following good work by Cathal Ryan. The Park struck early in the 2nd half but O’Leary replied after being put through by Cian Dineen. Cathal Ryan sealed the win when he rifled home from outside the box following a pass by Chris Moynihan. All played well.

U18 Ballyhar 2 Mastergeeh­a

2. In the opening half the home side had the better chances but the score remained 0-0 at the break. In the second half Ballyhar scored two goals early on. After this Mastergeeh­a played better and got a goal back when Dylan Murphy finished well following a pass by Michael Kearney. Then Mastergeeh­a got the equaliser when James Lynch scored from the edge of the box. In the closing stages both sides went close but a draw was a fair result.

KILGARVAN DEATH

Bridie O’Sullivan (née Lyne) Cummeendua­sig, Kilgarvan, wife of the late Cornelius O’Sullivan passed away on Sunday 19th November 2017. Bridie’s Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday November 21st at 12 noon in St. Patrick’s Church, Kilgarvan with burial afterwards in the local cemetery. To her children Denis, Patrick, Helen, Maura and extended family we express our deepest sympathy.

COLLECTION

The annual Spina Bifida Hydrocepha­lus collection which was taken up at the weekend Masses of November 18th and 19th 2017 amounted to €314. Thanks to all who contribute­d and to the following who helped with the collection, Tadgh O’Donoghue, Sean Foley, Mary Theresa Kelleher, Peter A O’Sullivan, Patsie Dineen, John Creedon (Lomanagh), Tom McDonnell, Mrs Jo Ann Murphy.

TIDY TOWNS

Funding of €53,000 was announced by the Minister for Rural & Community Developmen­t, Michael Ring, to mark the 60th anniversar­y of Tidy Towns. 39 towns and villages in Kerry have been awarded Tidy Towns funding. Under the scheme, villages are eligible to receive €1,000; small towns are qualified to receive €2,000, large towns are entitled to receive €3,000; and large urban centres are eligible to receive €4,000. Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, says the funding is an acknowledg­ment from the government of the amazing work that has been done by Tidy Town organisati­ons around the county. Pobal will administer the scheme on behalf of the Department and will contact all eligible groups directly over the coming weeks to facilitate the drawdown of the funding. Kenmare is eligible for €2,000 and Kilgarvan will be eligible for €1,000.
