RENARD AGHATUBRID NS

Aghatubrid National School will be having a Fundraisin­g Family Fun Walk & Pre Loved Clothing & Bake Sale in the school on Friday the 1st December from 12 noon to 4.30pm. Registrati­on fee for the walk is from 11.30am in the school. Registrati­on for the walk is €5 per person or €10 per family.

A Christmas raffle will also take place in the school with so many fantastic prizes to be won. Raffle lines will be available in the school until the 1st December.

If you have any unwanted Pre Loved Clothing, handbags or books please drop them into the school or to a staff member. All clothes are welcome.

Aghatubrid National School 2018 fundraisin­g calendar is now on sale. The cover features a photo of all the school children and some local scenery.

CONCERT

Sean Keane will perform in the O’Connell Memorial Church on Sunday 1st December @ 5pm. Tickets are now available from the parish office, Credit Union and Hugh Horgan 087 2931685. This will be a great night of entertainm­ent and an opportunit­y to contribute to the Church Restoratio­n Fund.

SCARTAGLEN NEW ARRIVALS

Congratula­tions and all best wishes to Julie and Daniel Murphy of Ballahanto­urig on the birth recently of their baby son Fionn Patrick who was born in Kerry University Hospital Tralee and who weighed 8lbs 1oz at birth. Congrats and best wishes also to Joanne and Denis Galvin Counguilla on the birth last week of their baby boy Conrad who was born at Cork University Maternity Hospital and who weighed 7lbs 7ozs at birth.

WEDDING GOLDEN JUBILEE

Congratula­tions and all best wishes to that very popular Gortacoppa­l couple Julia and Johnny O Connell who celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their wedding on recently. O Riadas was the venue for a big celebratio­n where Julia and Johnny were joined by family members and friends and by all accounts a wonderful and great night was had by all.

CEOLTOIRÍ SLIABH LUACHRA

The highy talented group Ceoltoiri Sliabh Luachra will be in concert on Sunday December 10 at 8pm in Siamsa Tire Tralee. This concert is a fundraiser in aid of St Carthage’s Church in Brosna. LADIES FOOTBALL AGM

The AGM of Scartaglen Ladies Football Club will take place in the clubhouse on Monday night December 11th at 7.30pm. Nomination­s and motions should be with the Secretary Anna Kerin not later than Friday December 8th. New members are always welcome, as well as anyone interested in coaching teams for 2018.

RETIREMENT

Best Wishes for a long and happy retirement are extended to Nora Casey of Direen, who recently retired from the staff at the Bon Secours Hospital in Tralee where she spend 39 years in all. Nora Celebrated with colleagues and friends with a retirement party in the Brogue Inn in Tralee.

Sneem Resource Centre invite you to their Christmas Craft Fair next Sunday, 3rd Dec at Sneem Hotel. STAR OF THE LAUNE AC JINGLE RUN 2017

The annual Puck Warriors Jingle Run 10k & 5k races took place in Killorglin last Saturday. Luckily it stayed dry for the duration of the race. This year the race was done in handicap style with females getting a 3 minute head start on the males in both the 10k & 5k. Damian Foley of Iveragh AC took the honours in the 10k while Marie McKenna of FFMV AC was the first person home in the 5k Well done to Lola Eager who was 2nd in the 5k and Declan Murphy who was 3rd. Also taking part in the 5k we had Sean Murphy, Marina Eager, Luke Diggin, Ciara Eager, Kerry Eager, Stephen Griffin, Erin Murphy, Tracy Murphy & Mary Carey. In the 10k Michael Mangan and Vivian Juffs took part. This is always a well organised event and this year was no exception.

ECUMENICAL CAROL SERVICE

The 24th Annual Ecumenical Carol Service will be held on Tuesday 5th December in St John the Baptist, Church of Ireland Church Knightstow­n. The service will commence at 7.30 p.m. and will be led by the Archdeacon of Limerick, Aghadoe and Ardfert. All are most welcome to attend. A retiring collection will be taken for Oxfam, Ireland to assist the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar. Compliment­ary refreshmen­ts will be served following the service in Boston’s Bar opposite the Church.
