WEST MUNSTER U14 LEAGUE

-

Castleisland 13 Killarney 0

THIS top of the table clash meant that one of the teams would lose its 100% win record in the league and the game certainly lived up to expectations.

Two evenly matched teams that were fully committed to the cause served up a highly entertaining contest.. The home team were two tries to the good at half-time after both Cathal Brosnan and Alan Kerins went over the whitewash.

The second half was equally as entertaining but when Killarney failed to score after a sustained period of pressure the writing was on the wall for the visitors.

The home team made sure of all four points when Donal Daly slotted over a fine kick from

distance to put them 13 points ahead with time running out.

Both teams deserve praise for the skill levels on display in difficult conditions.

Tralee 38 Listowel 10

A FANTASTIC performance from Tralee second row Jimmy Maunsell inspired his side to a good victory over Listowel on Saturday.

Tralee struck for two tries in the first half from Robert Monaghan and Jack Bolger, but strong rucking from Listowel’s Danny Finch and Leo Buckley opened a gap for Sean Galvin to touch down.

Listowel added try number two soon afterwards when Leo Buckley scored after a good team passing move.

Tralee dominated the second half and scored tries through Robert Monaghan

(2), Jack Bolger and Sam McElligott. Listowel never stopped trying, and Sean Thompson in particular caught the eye in a brave display.

Killorglin 19 Corca Dhuibhne 38

CORCA Dhuibhne travelled to Killorglin and came away with the points after a very entertaining open game of rugby.

The west Kerry side scored tries from Daithi Baker, Cian Moriarty (2), Rian O’Sullivan Cathal Galvin and man of the match Robbie Sheehy. Galvin also kicked four conversions.

For Killorglin Mike Teahan caught the eye with some strong carries while Aona O’Shea played well in the centre.

Killorglin scored three tries through Derry O’Sullivan (2) and Shane O’Connor, with O’Connor also landing two conversions.
