Bertie’s ‘Con’ film debuts on Amazon

- By FERGUS DENNEHY

TRALEE’S very own director, Bertie Brosnan has cause for celebration this week after he announced that his most recent project ‘CON’ is set to debut on a major internet steaming site.

‘CON’, which tells the tale of successful filmaker and actor, Con Keogh, as he leaves rehab and prepares to re-unite with his estranged father after 25 years, is now available to rebt or buy on ‘Amazon Prime’ in the UK or USA.

“It’s progress,” says Bertie, speaking about the film which he and his team produced with a total €7,000.

“What this latest development means is that ‘CON’ is now available to a vast marketplace through Video ON Demand and Instant Video much like Netflix and that is a huge thing,” Bertie continued.

“For a film with such a micro-budget, I decided that I wanted to go for the straight-to-video distribution model; for me, getting the film out there as soon as possoble is the most important thing,” he said.

Of his hopes for the future of the film, which has received rave reviews from critics, Bertie says that he hopes to see it available to rent or buy in Ireland by the end of January.

“Unfortunately, Amazon Prime doesn’t have the option for an Irish market at the moment, but I want to see how it goes first, but I will push it sooner rather than later,” he finished.
