County SFC kicks off
IT was a hectic month of club football acivity as ever.
The first game of the County Senior Football Championship was the preliminary round game between St Brendans and Shannon Rangers again this year. This time around St Brendans ran out comfortable winners over the Rangers on a scoreline of 6-24 to 1-8.
In the first round proper St Brendans saw off Kilcummin 2-17 to 2-14 in Blennerville; Dr Crokes saw off Mid Kerry 2-14 to 0-9; Feale Rangers saw off West Kerry 1-13 to 0-12; Kerins O’Rahillys saw off South Kerry 2-16 to 2-12; Dingle saw off Kenmare District 3-16 to 2-4; and Rathmore edged out East Kerry 1-12 to 1-10.
There were first round draws for Austin Stacks and St Kierans 0-16 to 1-13 and for Legion and Kenmare 0-15 to 1-12, both after extra-time. In the replays Austin Stacks got the better of it in Scartalgin (0-14 to 1-9) and Legion got the better of Kenmare in Kenmare on a scoreline of 2-13 to 1-15.
In the winners round Kerins O’Rahillys got the better of Dingle 2-13 to 3-9; Dr Crokes saw off St Brendans by a landslide 7-17 to 0-16; Rathmore saw off Feale Rangers 2-16 to 2-7 and Austin Stacks saw off Legion after a thriller in Connolly Park 4-13 to 3-6.
In the losers round East Kerry saw off Mid Kerry 4-15 to 1-11; South Kerry saw off Kilcummin 2-17 to 1-5; West Kerry saw off St Kierans 0-14 to 0-13; and Kenmare Shamrocks saw off the District on a scoreline of 3-13 to 3-8.
In a relegation play-off match Dingle saw off Kilcummin, 2-16 to 0-10.
