Bryan calls time

-

AFTER a fourteen year career as a Kerry senior footballer, St Marys’ Bryan Sheehan called it a day in November.

The Cahersiveen man – who had turned just 32 years of age when he retired – did so after being a member of five All Ireland winning squads, he won nine Munster titles in his time in the green and gold as well as three national league titles.

He took an All Star award in 2011 for his performances at midfield. He played 66 championship games and kicked a hugely impressive 6-161 in that time. Upon his retirement Kerry boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice called him “the ultimate stylist”.

“He’s been an outstanding servant for Kerry stretching back to 2004, winning five All Irelands on the way,” Fitzmaurice continued. “He has also had remarkable success at club level. His kicking ability has always been ins biggest strength. His dead ball kicking is second to none.”

Sheehan pledged to continue his hugely successful club career with both St Marys and South Kerry.

“It was always a childhood dream to play for Kerry and to do so for so long fills me with great pride,” he said.

“I’ve been so lucky to play with some of the best players that the game has ever seen, and will be forever grateful for sharing an unbelievable journey with them.”

The honour was all ours.
