Meyler’s return on the agenda as Kerry face up to Rebels in Austin Stack Park

THE Kerry Senior Hurlers put up a very good performanc­e last Sunday before eventually going down to Limerick by 3-19 to 1-15 in round 2 of the Co-Op Superstore­s Munster senior hurling league at the Gaelic Grounds.

Limerick led by 3-11 to 0-3 at half-time, but Kerry put in a much improved second half display, scoring 1-12 during that period as against eight points from the home side. The first home game of the year will be on this Sunday, January 14 at 2pm against Cork (managed by John Meyler) at Austin Stack Park.

There will be a significan­t change to the dates of the Garvey’s SuperValu Kerry Senior Hurling Championsh­ip for 2018. Round 1 is scheduled for the much earlier date of Sunday, June 17.

It will be followed by Round 2 on the weekend of June 30 and Round 3 on the weekend of July 29. The semi-finals are down for Saturday, August 11 with the County Senior Championsh­ip due to be played on Sunday, August 26. The Co Senior league Division 1 begins on the weekend of March 18 while Division 2 is due to get underway on Wednesday, May 30.

The Ballyduff GAA Club will hold a victory social on this Saturday, January 13 at the Rose Hotel, Tralee. Medals will be presented to the senior team that won the County Championsh­ip, North Kerry Championsh­ip and Co. League Division 1 titles during 2017.

The Lady’s Walk Hurling Club Annual Convention is scheduled for this Friday, January 12 at Lowe’s Bar, Ballyduff, commencing at 7.30pm.

The Annual Convention of the North Kerry Hurling Board will take place at Lixnaw GAA clubrooms on Thursday, January 18 at 8pm. The closing date for nomination­s and motions is 5pm on this Friday, January 12.
