All-Ireland Scór finals in Sligo
EXCITING times ahead for Coiste Scor Chiarrai with the first of the three competitions, Scor na nOg, which is for Under-17s, coming to the concluding stage.
Three clubs have made it to the All-Ireland Finals which started back in November at District Board level. Dr Crokes are better know for their football successes but this time around they will cross swords with the other 31 counties in the Quiz category.
Spa are no strangers to this stage of competition having been involved in All-Ireland Finals down through the years, and this time they will go in as All Ireland Scor na nÓg Set Dancing champions and will be hoping to continue where they left off last time around.
Somewhat new to the Scór scene, Na Gaeil (Tralee/St. Brendan’s Board) have been involved back the years and will be appearing in their first ever All-Ireland Final at Scor na nOg.
The Trath na gCeistanna Boird will take place in the Pegasus Ballroom, Clayton Hotel at 11am. Máistir na gCeisteanna Boird will be John Devanney, Bredagh, Co Down. Other competitions will take place in the Knockrea Arena, Sligo I.T.
SCÓR SINSEAR
Moving on to Scór Sinsear which is pencilled in for Saturday, February 24 in the Muire Gan Smal, School, Casteisland. All clubs in Kerry are urged to commence preparations now by encouraging participation of their members to in the various Scór competitions such as Figure and Set Dancing, Solo Singing, Recitation, Leiriu (Novelty), Instrumental Music, Ballad Group.
All interested in taking part this year Scór competitions must participate in their own District Board competitions first prior to qualifying for County Finals of 2018 Senior Scór competitions.
Take note that qualifying participants for County Finals must be submitted by District Boards to Runai Scor, Suzanne Ni Laoire not later than Monday February 20. District Boards are urged to hold their competition finals well in advance of this date.
Quiz is a separate competition and is run off as a table quiz event whereby each club quiz (team of four) participate in a county final with winners qualifying directly for All-Ireland finals. The County Finals in this category will take place prior to the main event on February 24.
