Learn, train and get qualified for free at Kerry ETB Training Centre

KERRY ETB Training Centre offer a diverse range of full-time day courses, traineeships and part-time evening courses in the areas of health and beauty, engineering, construction, tourism, business administration, IT and media. The centre also has responsibility for the administration, management and delivery of SOLAS apprenticeship programmes in Kerry.

The full-time day courses and traineeships provide a range of employability related skills and formal vocational qualification to facilitate entry or re-entry to the labour market. These courses include significant periods of work placement in local companies. The emphasis is on developing technical knowledge and handson practical skills that are closely matched and easily transferred to the workplace, thus ensuring participants are job-ready by the end of their courses.

There are no course fees for full-time day courses and traineeships. Training allowances are paid in line with Department of Social Protection rules. Accommodation allowances are also available.

The part-time evening courses offer people already in employment an opportunity to update their vocational skills and gain qualifications outside of their work hours. There are 2 evening course terms in the year, one starting in January and the other in September. Evening courses run from 7:00pm to 10:00pm one or two evenings per week for 10 weeks.

The centre is well positioned to service the growing demand for apprenticeship training and currently delivers Phase 2 Apprenticeship Programmes in the crafts of Carpentry & Joinery, Electrical, Mechanical Fitting, Metal Fabrication, Motor Mechanics, Plumbing and Stonecutting. It also provides an apprenticeship advisory service for individuals and employers and takes a leading role in proposing and developing new apprenticeships in conjunction with other relevant stakeholders.

The centre boasts high-spec training rooms and workshops, a first class canteen, ample parking, and a friendly and professional instructing and admin staff. It strives to ensure the range of courses on offer match the skills required by local businesses and the wider labour market. To this end, the centre regularly reviews its courses and introduces new innovative ones such as Fibre Installation Technician and Digital Marketing with E-Commerce. Quality assured, industry recognised qualifications from QQI, City & Guilds and other internationally recognised awarding bodies are issued on successful completion of training.
