DEATHS

John O’Neill of Spunkane Cottages and formerly of Kenmare died in University Hospital Kerry on Wednesday, January 3rd. His remains were removed from the Fitzgerald funeral home to Saint Finnian’s Church on Thursday evening. Father Gerard Finucane P.P. and father Padraig Sugrue celebrated his funeral Mass at 11a.m on Friday and he was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Marion O’Neill sang at Mass and Padraig Collins played a slow air on the concert flute. Predecease­d by his wife Kathleen, nee Courtney, in May 2016 John is survived by his sons John, Padraig and Gerard, sister May, daughter in law, grandchild­ren, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

John Foley of Beenbane died in University Hospital Kerry after a short illness on Monday, January 8th. Having been waked in the Fitzgerald funeral home on Tuesday evening, his remains were removed from his home to Saint Finnian’s church on Wednesday and received by Father Gerard Finucane P.P. who celebrated his funeral Mass at 11a.m. He was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery. Johns friends from Kilcummin sang and played at Mass. Predecease­d by his parents Michael and Bridie, brother Jeremiah, sisters Eileen and Mary, John is survived by his wife Breda, children John Francis, Patrick and Jacinta O’Shea, Brothers Patrick and Michael Joe, sister Teresa, grandchild­ren, son in law, daughters in law, Breda’s brother, sisters and Aunt Maura, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom we offer our sincere sympathy.

Sincere sympathy to Joan Moriarty, Kilmackeri­n, her husband David and family on the death of her mother Margaret Moriarty, nee Coffey, whose funeral mass was celebrated in Saint Stephen’s Church Glencar on Wednesday, January 10th; also to Bridie O’Sullivan of Scarriff and her family on her sister’s death and the Cronin family of Murreigh on their aunt’s death.
