1. MUSICAL SOCIETY TO HOLD A ‘STRICTLY’ NIGHT

TRALEE Musical Society is gearing up for another night of extravagan­za next month when its young stars take to the dance-floor to show off their fancy footwork.

Strictly Young Dancing’ will take place in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on the night of Saturday, February 3; Tickets will cost €10 and are available to buy from Revolution Dance School, Cassie Leens School of Dance and Bryan Carr School of Performing Arts.

2. FINAL WALK IN JANUARY 5K A DAY CHALLENGE

THE end of the Kerry January ‘5km A Day’ challenge is nigh and so a final group walk is now being organised for next Wednesday, January 31.

It will leave from the Ashe Hotel at 8pm on the evening and there will be a cheque presentati­on to the three charities after the walk.

Don’t miss out on this great end to a great challenge.

3. TRALEE RUGBY CLUB TO HOLD TABLE QUIZ

TRALEE Rugby Club are set to hold a tanle quiz on the night of Friday. February 2 at 8pm, all to mark the opening of the years Six Nations tournament.

The quiz will take place in the Ashe Hotel and organisers are hoping to have at least 40 teams taking part on the day.

4. BIDDY’S DAY FESTIVAL IN KILLORGLIN

THE Biddy’s Day Festival in Killorglin is back again and looking at the programme of events for the day, it promises to be a great day of fun.

Running on Saturday, February 3, cross making, music, storytelli­ng, a torch fire parade and a ‘King of the Biddies’ contest will be just some of the highlights on the day.

5. TRALEE PARKRUN CELEBRATES THIRD BIRTHDAY

EVERYONE is cordially invited to the third birthday of the hugely popular Tralee parkrun, taking place this coming Saturday, February 3.

The 5k run/walk will take place at 9:30 in the morning as usual with birthday celebratio­ns taking place in the town park and Brandon Hotel on the day.

All runners are asked to wear the parkrun t-shirt on the day.

6. CAHERLEAHE­EN’S BINGO BONANZA

THE staff and pupils are getting reay to hold a fundraisin­g day this coming Sunday February 4.

The school will run their ‘Bingo Bonanza’ at the Rose Hotel from 2pm onwards on the day, where a huge crowd is expected to take part in the chance to win over €1,500 in prizes.

There will be ten games played on the day with kids, singles and double books.

7. WETLANDS TO HOLD ‘SUPERMOON’ EVENT

THE team at the Tralee Bay Wetlands centre are offering the chance for visitors to witness and to learn about the two amazing phenomonen­s, a Super Moon and a Blue Moon.

The Wetlands will hold a dusk tour tonight (Wednesday, January 31) at 5:30pm where they will all about the amazing sight, as well as learning all about the animals living in the centre.

Adults will cost €10, children will cost €8 and booking for this dusk tour can be made through calling the centre on 0667126700.

8. FOIL, ARMS & HOG IN SIAMSA

THERE are still a number of tickets available to buy for the brand new upcoming ‘Foil, Arms & Hog’ show in Siamsa Tíre.

The comedy trio, who have amassed close to 50 million YouTube hits with their weekly sketches, are bringing their brand new live show entitled ‘Oink’ to Tralee on February 15.

The show will consist of all new sketches, never-before seem on the groups YouTube channel.

Tickets for the show are set to cost between €22 and €25 and are available from Siamsa Tíre.

9. BEAUFORT TO CELEBRATE GERMAN LINK

TO celebrate the new found link between Kerry and Berlin, there will be a screening of a German classic, “The Lives of Others”, on Friday February 9 in the Inn Between Bar at 8:30pm.

The film will be screened by the Beaufort Film Night; admission is €7 and further informatio­n can be found on Beaufort Film Night’s Facebook page.

10. GET EXERCISING THIS WEEKEND WITH PARKRUN

WHY not try to head down to take part in one of the many parkruns taking place around Kerry at the weekends?

There are four parkruns in Kerry: Tralee, Killarney, Listowel and the Tralee Junior parkrun.

These free 5km events are run every weekend by volunteers and they have been proven to be extremely popular in improving both physical and mental health.

The Tralee. Listowel and Killarney parkruns are held every Saturday morning from 9:30am onwards while the Tralee Junior parkrun takes place on Sunday at 9:30am - these 2km events are aged for children from 4-14 years old. People can register and print off their barcode at parkrun.ie.
