Tommy gets on his bike again for Enable Ireland

- By SIMON BROUDER

THIS Saturday, February 17, keen cyclist Tommy Sheehy will begin a series of eight hour spinathons to raise funds for Enable Ireland Kerry Services.

Over the next three months Tommy will undertake a series of these eight hour sessions in Tralee, Killarney, Killorglin, Castleisland and Listowel.

Since 2011, Tommy has raised over €65,000 for Enable Ireland in Kerry.

His efforts and the support he receives in the county have made a huge difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Kerry according to Sean Scally of Enable Ireland Kerry

“I’m delighted to support Enable Ireland. I’m grateful to all the managers at the stores throughout Kerry for their encouragement and help. The spinning is tough but I enjoy interacting with all the customers and all the banter and good wishes that makes the day enjoyable,” said Tommy.

In June, Tommy will be back in the saddle to cycle from Barcelona to Valencia, a challenging five day cycle covering 679km.

“All money raised by Tommy will be used to support our services in Kerry. Enable Ireland provides a range of supports and services to children and adults with disabilities,” said Mr Scally.

“Our aim is to ensure that a disability is not an obstacle to a child or adult reaching their full potential. All services are provided Free of Charge and while we receive funding from the State we do rely on the support of volunteers, community and local business to help us meet the needs of our services,” Sean Scally said.
