Entries announced for Kerry Drama Festival

THE entries for the 31st Kerry Drama Festival have been announced. The event will be run from Saturday, March 3rd to Saturday, March 10th. inclusive.

As has been the norm since its revival in 1988, the Ivyleaf Arts Centre, Castleisla­nd will host the event and it will be opened by committee member and Amateur Drama Council of Ireland Chairman, Aidan Reidy. Adjudicato­r: Walker Ewart. Mr. Ewart has been involved with the amateur drama circuit for over thirty-five years as a director and actor, as well as an administra­tor.

He has appeared as an actor in several Ulster and All-Ireland finals with Bangor and Hollywood drama clubs.

He has adjudicate­d throughout Ireland, including: the All-Ireland Finals in Athlone in 2008; the All-Ireland One-Act Finals in Ennis in 2003; the All-Ireland Confined Finals in Tralee in 2005 and the Northern Ireland One-Act Finals in 2006.

In 2009 he adjudicate­d the British Final Festival of One Act Plays in Enniskille­n.

Sunday, March 4: Nenagh Players with: ‘Duet for One’ by Tom Kempinski / Open section.

Monday, March 5: Sliabh Aughty Drama Group with: ‘Moonglow’ by Kim Carney / Confined section.

Tuesday, March 6: Kilworth Dramatic Society, Co. Cork with ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ by Martin McDonagh / Confined section.

Wednesday, March 7: Brideview Drama Group with: ‘Stolen Child’ by Bairbre Ní Chaoimh and Yvonne Quinn / Open section.

Thursday, March 8: Kilmeen Drama Group with: ‘The Shaughran’ by Dion Boucicault / Open section.

Friday, March 9: Prosperous Dramatic Society with: ‘Sylvia’ by A.R.Gurney / Open section.

Saturday, March 10: Holycross/ Ballycahil­l Drama Group with ‘Bad Girls’ by Rona Munro / Confined section.
