Munster handball title for Jack O’Shea

FRESH from picking up the Kerry Sports Star Award for Handball Glenbeigh’s Jack O’Shea has now been crowned Munster 40x20 Junior A Singles champion. Jack beat Cork’s Ryan Harkin 21-12, 21-10 to take the title in a game that he was delighted to win.

“I am very happy to win another Munster title and this time in my home alley. It was a tight game at the start but thankfully I was able to pull away. I will now look forward to the All Ireland semi-finals that will take place in Glenbeigh on March 3. I know that once again I will get great support from my home club and from all over Kerry.”

In the Munster Juvenile Championsh­ip Under 17 Boys Singles Tommy Quirke from Glenbeigh beat Oisin Hallaghan from Waterford 21-12, 21-11. But in the Boys Under 14 Doubles Owen McCarthy and Padraig Heffernan lost to Charlie Treen and Conor Hallagan from Waterford 15-8, 15-7.

Dominic Lynch’s All Ireland 40x20 Senior Singles last sixteen clash against Clare’s Diarmuid Nash has been reschedule­d for this Saturday.

In other fixtures in the Munster 40x20 Junior A Doubles quarter final Jack O’Shea and Rory O’Connor from Glenbeigh will play Paul Hedderman and Tomas Donegan from Limerick on Saturday at 5pm in Glenbeigh.
