U-16 GIRLS DIVISION 3 PLATE FINAL KCYMS 55 St Paul’s 42
DESPITE a power packed performance by Deirdre Lyne for St Paul’s at both ends of the court KCYMS proved too strong in thisU-16 Girls Division 3 Plate Final at the Pres Gym, Killarney on Sunday. KCYMS led 13-8 at the end of the opening quarter with Fodhla Houlihan scoring six points for Killorglin while Caoimhe O’Sullivan and Deirdre Lyne replied for St Paul’s.
The Killarney side enjoyed a purple patch in the second quarter as they outscored KYCMS 19-11 thanks to Clodagh Sheehan who drained 11 points and Deirdre Lyne hit 6, with Houlihan and Anna Kerrisk excellent for Killorglin, but the game was in the balance with St Paul’s now leading 27-24 at half time.
KCYMS upped their game in the third quarter and outscored St Paul’s 15-5 to lead 39-32 with Houlihan, Maggie West, Hannah McGeever and Anna Kerrisk all finding their range. The final quarter saw St Paul’s rally again with Sheehan back on court but it was basket for basket and KCYMS just had too much scoring power to win by 13 with Fodhla Houlihan the MVP with 18 points.
U-16 GIRLS DIVISION 2 PLATE FINAL Gneeveguilla 44 Cobras 42
GNEEVEGUILLA thanks to Michelle Fleming just got home in front of a gallant Cobras side in this exciting U-16 Division 2 Girls Plate Final but it truth it was final that could have gone either way. Defence on both sides was impressive with Erica Diggins opening Cobras account but Kornelia Cybul replied for Gneeveguilla as the East Kerry side led 14-12 at the opening quarter.
Katelyn Stack with two buckets and Aoife O’Flaherty added six second quarter points for Cobras while Michelle Fleming and Alice O’Leary
