COMMUNITY Games are now well into their programme of events for 2018 with both last weekend and this weekend having a very busy programme of events consisting of indoor soccer, swimming and our talent competitio­n.

Indoor Soccer

OUR Under 10 Girls Indoor Soccer County Finals were played in Duagh Sport & Leisure Complex with seven teams divided into two groups.

In Group 1 Miltown / Listry defeated Fossa in a thrilling game five goals to four.

Fossa and Ballyduff played out a two-all draw and in the last game of this group Miltown / Listry qualified for the final with 5-2 victory over Ballyduff.

In Group 2, Duagh / Lyre qualified for the final with victories over Listowel 4-0, Ardfert / Kilmoyley 6-1 and Kenmare 1-0 with Kenmare qualifying for play off game with victory over Listowel 3-0 and a nil all draw with Ardfert / Kilmoyley.

In the play-off game Fossa proved too strong for Kenmare to win the bronze medals by 4-0 with Kenmare receiving the certs. The final produced the game of the day with Duagh / Lyre taking an early lead with Miltown / Listry equalizing on stroke of half-time.

Duagh / Lyre again took the lead midway through the second half with a well worked goal, but Miltown / Listry girls found their way through for the equaliser once more and then with two minutes left scored their third to put them into the lead for the first time a lead they held onto to claim the gold medals with Duagh / Lyre receiving the silver medals.

Miltown / Listry will now represent Kerry at provincial finals.
