Legion comfortable winners over Gneeveguilla

EAST KERRY SENIOR LEAGUE Legion 2-17 Gneeveguilla 2-4

ANOTHER sound performance from the Legion seniors and in the process they registered a credible tally along the way.

Gneeveguilla fielded a young team and were without a number of regulars as were the Legion but the home side were using their advantage in experience to telling effect. A resolute defence gave little away and the Legion had a decided advantage at midfield which meant a steady supply of quality ball to the forwards.

A deflected ‘45 from Gneeveguilla ended up in the Legion net but brought an immediate response when Alan Moriarty replied with a goal which was the result of some very good support play.

Credit to Conor Keane who despite things not going his way at times persevered and ended up giving a master class in point taking from all distances and angles, bagging another goal for good measure.

It wasn’t for the want of effort that Gneeveguilla were beaten but they as previously said lacked that bit of experience and found scores hard to come by. Having said that their best player DJ O’Connor took his penalty with some style and veteran Eoin Lawlor and Don Murphy gave their all.

We also offer our sympathies to the family of talented footballer Aodhán O’Connor from Dingle on his sudden passing and to all at Dingle GAA and Scoil Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne.
