Mid Kerry Senior League (Report courtesy of Danny McClure-assistant PRO) MATCH REPORT: It was a cold dry morning in Beaufort for this Mid Kerry League meeting of Milltown / Castlemaine and Beaufort. Milltown / Castlemaine started the game with the wind at their backs as they sought to take advantage in the first half. It was Beaufort that got off the mark and very quickly with a score in the opening minute of the game from the boot of Niall O Connor.

Jack MacCarthy replied from a free 2 minutes later to level the scores. Beaufort were to then go back into the lead with a fine score from Danny Healy. Before the 10th minute of the match the relentless early pressure from Beaufort would see Nathan Breen ripple the back of the Milltown / Castlemaine net and leave the score at 1-02 to 0-01. Top scorer on the day Fergal Hallissey knocked over three unanswered frees to further extend the lead for Beaufort until the pattern was halted by a fine score from Pa Wrenn, who struck Milltown / Castlemaine’s second score of the match while off balance with his right boot. Jack McCarthy scored his second free of the game as Milltown / Castlemaine tried to reel their opponents back in.

It was a beaufort side with a strong first half performance however that would score next with Danny Healys second point of the game and Fergal Hallissey round off the first half scoring from a free. Leaving the score Milltown / Castlemaine 0-03 v Beaufort 1-07 at the break. After the halftime team talk at half time Milltown / Castlemaine came out hungry to claw back the lead and attacked from the off bringing on Seamus O’Dowd and Ciaran O’Connor into the forward line. It was though on a swift break away that Beaufort would get the first score of second half through Niall O’Connor. With the wind behind them in this half Beaufort took advantage and extended their lead further with scores for Fergal Hallissey (3), Liam Carey (2) and Niall O Connor. Padriag Reilly and Alan Hickey were introduced for Milltown / Castlemaine and just inside 60 minutes Shane Murphy struck a free to bring his sides tally to four. Derek Twiss also made an impact coming on to knock over the final score just before the whistle. It was however a strong Beaufort performance that saw them run out the victors with the final score reading:
