U-16 GIRLS DIVISION 1 TK Bobcats 48 Cahersiveen 57

THE return from injury of Irish International Siofra O’Shea made all the difference as Cahersiveen who lost the recent Cup final meeting with TK Bobcats without O’Shea, gained revenge of sorts in this league clash in Moyderwell.

Cahersiveen laid the foundations of in the opening quarter with Siofra O’Shea in unstoppable form as she drained 12 points including a three pointer with Claire O’Connor and Leah Murphy adding two baskets each, Bobcats were in trouble.

Rachel Dwyer got two more for Cahersiveen as Bobcats could only manage a basket each from Caoimhe Carroll, Eve Creedon and Roisin Long as Cahersiveen raced 24-6 clear at the end of the quarter.

Bobcats to their credit rallied in the second quarter with Ellie McElligott driving to the basket scoring 6 points and with baskets from Eve Grace and Roisin Long, they closed the gap to 12 as baskets from O’Shea, O’Connor and neat basket from Maeve Daly kept Cahersiveen 32-20 in front at half-time.

Third quarter saw Rachel Dwyer adding 7 more for Cahersiveen while Síofra drained another 6 points including a three but Bobcats were very competitive with baskets from Mar Bargallo Eve Creedon, Ellie McElligott and Roisin Long closed the gap by another point to 45-34 at the end of the third.

Bobcats needed a big final quarter to undo their slow start which cost them dearly and Mar Bargallo added 8 with some excellent play and with some excellent never say die teamwork they added 14 points.

But it was Cahersiveen who controlled the quarter with Siofra O’Shea outstanding and Maeve Daly added three more baskets and Rachel Dwyer helping Síofra out in the paint, Cahersiveen had a deserved win but Bobcats will regret their sluggish start.
