Listowel girls qualify for Munster U-18 final

MUNSTER U-18 GIRLS SEMI-FINAL Fethard 17 Listowel 35

THREE impressive tries from Listowel, including one from the excellent Muirne Wall saw Listowel get a great start to this encounter. Fethard put serious pressure on the Listowel line and scored to reduce the deficit just before half time. Listowel added six more tries in the second half. Fethard did come up with two tries in the second half. Listowel are now in the Munster Cup final next Saturday.

MUNSTER U-16 CUP GROUP 2 Killarney 5 Sundays Well 10

KILLARNEY came up short against Sundays Well in Aghadoe last Saturday Killarney defended stoutly for most of the first period as Sundays Well took the game to the home side. Mark Sheehan, Donnchadh Grealy and Tomas Clifford all made try saving tackles. Eventually the Sundays Well winger crossed the Killarney line to give them a 5-0 half time lead.

Following a good restart and line out win, a Jose Ferrero break and off load resulted in Mark Sheehan levelling the score for Killarney. Sundays Well only foray from their half in the second period, saw them scoring the winning try after they reacted more sharply when the ball rebounded off the post from a penalty and their impressive centre scored wide on the right.

Although Killarney had several chances to snatch the win, a lack of experience cost them in the finish. Denis Koyun and Gary Randles were outstandin­g for Killarney.

WEST MUNSTER U-14 LEAGUE PLATE Listowel 38 Tralee 0

LISTOWEL were much too good for Tralee and led by 19-0 at half time after tries from Danny Finch (2) and Sean Thomson with two conversion­s from Edward O’Connor. In the second half Listowel added further tries from Oisin Kennelly and Mick Maleck with O’Connor converting two.

MUNSTER U-16 BOWL GROUP 1 Shannon/Old Crescent/ Garryowen 38 Listowel 10

LISTOWEL U-16s lost heavily to the combined Old Crescent/ Shannon/Garryowen team. Listowel played into a stiff breeze and started very poorly conceding 4 unanswered tries in the first half.

They were much better in the second half and their forwards dominated possession. Murtie Moriarty capped a man of the match performanc­e with two fine tries to put some respectabi­lity on the scoreline. Unfortunat­ely Listowel conceded another try at the death.
