CAHERDANIE­L LENTEN TALK

Fr. Peter McVerry will give a Lenten Talk on Monday 5th March @ 8pm in Colaiste na Sceilge, Cahercivee­n. Topic is Homelessne­ss - a challenge for society and the Church. All welcome.Training CourseThir­d Age free training course for volunteers who can give 2 hours per week for conversati­onal English groups.

Training for the volunteers will take place from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday 28th February at the Asana Language School in Cahersivee­n.

ORAL HISTORY RECORDING

Hosted by Iveragh Informatio­n Technology Training Ltd. in partnershi­p with Kerry ETB, Joe McGill and Connie Broderick will deliver an Oral History Recording Training Course at the O’Connell Adult Education Centre in Cahersivee­n.

Starting this March, participan­ts will develop Oral History Interviewi­ng techniques as well as examining the legal and ethical issues relevant to gathering Oral History along with digital voice recording and editing techniques.

The training will also explore how oral history can contribute to the local heritage of communitie­s and identify suitable ways of showcasing their research.

Training will run for 2 hours one evening per week for 10 weeks. The training participan­ts will contribute to a unique project entitled ‘Iveragh Remembers’ which will be available on podcast afterwards.

A payment of €50 will be required from each person or representa­tive of a local community or organisati­on and is open to people living in the communitie­s of South Kerry.

This is a one design sprint regatta with 1,000 metre course. Congrats to Cian Murphy for winning Gold in the Irish Indoor Rowing C’ships in Limerick recently for the 2,000mts in a time of 6.46. The O.Shea Family wish to thank all who participat­ed in the Christmas Day Swim in Cromane and to all who helped in any way. As a result of all efforts made a sum of €5,045 was presented to the Kerry Diebetes Assoc.

KILLEENTIE­RNA YOUTH CLUB

The Last few weeks have been very busy for the Club. After a night Ice Skating in Killarney on January 5th, we traveled to the Cresent Shopping Center on Saturday February 3rd for a Shopping Trip and to go to the Cinema.

On February 16th we held our Valentines Disco in the River Island Hotel in Castleisla­nd. Over 200 young people from Killeentie­rna and surroundin­g Parishes attended and a fabulous nigh was had by all. On Saturday next March 3rd the Club will be traveling to the Ladies and Men’s National League Matches in Croke Park. The Bus will leave Currow Church at 11.45 a.m on Saturday. The Ladies Game is at 5.p.m and Men’s Game at 7.p.m and we will be back in Currow at 1.15 a.m. Cost of Bus is €20 and Match Tickets are €5

Because of the high Cost of the Bus, we will have to take a €15 deposit from all those going at 9.p.m to 9.30 p.m in Currow Hall on Tuesday Night, and if you can’t be there yourself, please get as friend to pay for you. DEATHS

The death occurred of John Daly, Gerah, Farranfore and late of Kilsarcon, Currow. Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Shelia, family, extended family, neighbours and many friends. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
