Big test for Celtic in Munster Junior Cup quar ter-final

-

MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP QUARTER FINAL Killarney Celtic v Southend United (Waterford) Sunday, March 11 Waterford 2pm

KILLARNEY Cetic will be journeying to the sunny south east next Sunday when they take on Waterford side Southend United in the quarter final of the Munster Junior Cup.

After exiting the FAI Junior Cup at the last sixteen stage Celtic will be striving to go all the way in this provincial competition. They have been impressive in their path to the quarter-final defeating Fenit Samphires 4-3 on penalties in the opening round after the sides were deadlocked 1-1 after normal time. They had a tough test in the second round and they defeated Castleisland 2-1. In the third round they met Dingle Bay Rovers and romped home 4-0 winners.

It came to the open draw in the fourth round where they defeated Desmond League side Ballingarry 7-2. They then travelled to Waterford in the fifth round and came away with a great 2-1 win against Waterford Crystal. Now the face another very difficult assignment against a strong Waterford side.

Celtic are unbeaten so far in Premier A and have a steady side that has won a good few big games over the past couple of months. They will be going into this game in a confident frame of mind and are well capable of coming away with a win. However, they face a very strong side and each and every player will have to raise their game to a very high level if they are to secure victory.

It should be a tight game and everyone will be keeping their fingers cross that Celtic can do the business and advance to the semi-final.

Killarney Celtic did win a provincial title in 2011 when they beat Carrick United in a penalty shoot-out after the sides ended deadlocked 1-1 after 90 minutes in the inaugural Munster Champions League Trophy final.
