On Thursday 8th March a Jobs Week Informatio­n Session by the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection will take place at Killarney Library from 11am - 1pm. Free admission.

RENARD 24 HOUR VIGIL

24 hour Vigil of Reconcilia­tion and Adoration will be held on Friday 9th March beginning with Mass at 7 30pm and concluding with the Vigil Mass on Saturday 10th at 7 30pm. It will be held in the Nuns Chapel. All are welcome.

Aghatubrid National School will hold an Enrolment Day for future infants/future children @ 10am on Wednesday 21st March. Enrolment Applicatio­n Forms for parents/guardians wishing to enrol their children in Aghatubrid National School in September 2018 are now available from the school. Interested parents are welcome to come to the school to collect a form. Alternativ­ely, parents are welcome to collect the Enrolment Applicatio­n Form on our Enrolment Day on Wednesday 21st March at 10am.

CHRISTMAS DAY SWIM

The Portmagee Christmas Day Swim 2017 has once again been a great success with over eighty swimmers taking to the water at Cnuicin Pier on Christmas morning. A total of €10,000 was raised in aid of Kerry Hospice and Palliative Care and Cahircivee­n Hospice, This annual event is going from strength to strength and it would not be possible without the continued help of volunteers, the fantastic work of the committee and all those who donated and supported the swim on the day. Funds received an additional boost this year and the organisers would like to acknowledg­e and thank Vincent Devlin of Devlins Centra Cahircivee­n who donated €1,000 on behalf of Dooks Golf Club and Anthony & Mary Keating of the Fishermans Bar Portmagee who donated €500. The organisers look forward to seeing you all next Christmas and thank each and everyone of you for your continued support. The water may be cold but the welcome is warm.

WATERVILLE MARRIAGE:

Fr. Gerard Finucane officiated at the marriage of Claire, daughter of Anne, nee Curran and Frankie Donnelly of ‘Lakelands’ and Fergal, son of Mary, nee O’Neill and Donal Cronin of Spunkane in St. Finian’s Church of Saturday February 24th. Claire’s sister Noreen O’Shea was her Chief Bridesmaid with Bridesmaid­s sisters Annette and Elaine O’Keeffe and cousin Fiona Curran. Brendan Dennehy was Best Man with Groomsmen brothers Mícheál and Cillian Cronin and Cormac O’Sullivan. Chloe O’Shea was the pretty Flower Girl and Page Boy Conor O’Shea. The reception was held in the Rose Hotel in Tralee. We wish the newlyweds a long and happy life together.

DEATH:

Sincere sympathy to Eileen O’Connell of Spunkane, her husband Paudie and their daughter Catherine on the death of her mother Joan McCarthy, nee Keating, of Laharn South and formerly of Cloghane Carhan whose funeral mass was celebrated in the O’Connell Memorial Church on Wednesday 28th February. She was laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery. Seaimhneas síoraí dá hamam dílis.

CHARITY CYCLE

The second “John O’Shea Memorial Charity Cycle” takes place on Sunday 18th March 2018. It will start and finish in Ionad na Dromoda. Registrati­on at 10am - starting cycle at 11am. There are 2 routes 45km and 70km. All monies raised goes to “Irish Pilgrimage Trust Group 135” who take children with special needs to Lourdes at Easter.
