Walsh scores 1-8 as Kerins O’Rahillys win in Templenoe

-

Templenoe 2-11 Kerins O’Rahillys 1-16

GOOD and important start away from home for Strand Road as Tommy Walsh had a good outing on the scoring front in registering 1-8 in a two-point win at a venue O’Rahillys have had some difficulty at since Templenoe came up to the top flight.

Indeed both the Kenmare District side’s goals coming in the first-half through Teddy Doyle and Cian Hallissey suggested further difficulty for the visitors but Gearóid Savage was kicked three late first-half points which were key to the Tralee side staying in touch at 2-5 to 0-9 at the break.

1-2 without reply was the ideal start for O’Rahillys after the break, Walsh getting their goal from the penalty spot as they went three ahead but a brace from Brian Crowley and a John Spillane point had the match level with 10 minutes to go. Walsh came into his own at this stage for the visitors however as he popped over three points to ensure their win as Gavin O’Brien, Cormac Coffey and John Ferguson were others to score for Strand Road on the day.

Hallissey finished with 1-4 for the hosts as Killian Spillane registered only a solitary point for Templenoe in this opening day loss.
