DROMID PEARSES

Piarsaigh na Dromada 1-15 Na Gaeil 1-16: Piarsaigh na Dromada registered a one point loss away to a strong and organised Na Gaeil side in perfect conditions on Sunday. Na Gaeil were quicker off the block and registered four unanswered points before Niall O Shea kicked a point from play. Dromid kicked the next three points of the game through Graham O Sullivan, Niall O Shea and Shane O Connor to make it all square after ten minutes. A key moment in the first half came when Na Gaeil player Ryan O’Neill got in behind the Dromid defence to finish calmly to the net. Dromid were struggling at this point of the game and Na Gaeil registered a further five points leaving them 6 points ahead after 25 minutes. Dromid rallied before half time and kicked 3 more points from Dilan O Donoghue, Graham O Sullivan and Chris Farley leaving the half time score Na Gaeil 1-10 Dromid 0-10. Dromid began the second half with intent as Niall O Shea found the net from close range after a good run by Dilan O Donoghue. Chris Farley put Dromid into the lead with a free from close range but was quickly cancelled out by a Na Gaeil point. Niall O Shea and Graham O Sullivan gave Dromid a two point lead midway through the second half. Na Gaeil would not give in and kicked a further two points to level it with 2 minutes remaining. The definitive score of the game came when Darragh Carmody stepped up to coolly slot over a 45 with virtually the last kick of the game. Both teams deserve great credit for the sporting manner in which the game was played.
