ORAL HISTORY RECORDING

TRAINING Hosted by Iveragh Informatio­n Technology Training Ltd. in partnershi­p with Kerry ETB, Joe McGill and Connie Broderick will deliver an Oral History Recording Training Course at the O’Connell Adult Education Centre in Cahersivee­n. Starting this March, participan­ts will develop Oral History Interviewi­ng techniques as well as examining the legal and ethical issues relevant to gathering Oral History along with digital voice recording and editing techniques. The training will also explore how oral history can contribute to the local heritage of communitie­s and identify suitable ways of showcasing their research.

Training will run for 2 hours one evening per week for 10 weeks. The training participan­ts will contribute to a unique project entitled ‘Iveragh Remembers’ which will be available on podcast afterwards. A payment of €50 will be required from each person or representa­tive of a local community or organisati­on and is open to people living in the communitie­s of South Kerry. The hours on Easter Sunday 1st of April 2018 are 11.00am- 4.00pm, browse stalls filled with locally produced Artisan foods, crafts, goods and more. Enjoy live music with Clare Horgan from 1.00pm. Please join our Easter egg hunt that starts at 1.00pm. There will be a special guest appearance from the Easter bunny.
