KERRY is well known for its talent but now this talent is to be officially recognised when Hollywood glitz and glamour arrives in Killarney for the first ever ‘Oskars’.

Local actors, actresses and directors are all set to be recognised for their talents in their very own film productions.

Kilcummin and Glenflesk GAA clubs have joined forces for what is, without doubt, Kerry’s most unique fundraiser – ‘A Night at the Oskars’.

For the past few months communities have been working on their very own versions of their favourite films and have been filming feverishly.

The seven films to feature on the night are Forrest Gump, The Snapper, Sister Act, A Few Good Women, The Field, Father Ted and Michael Collins.

Actors were coached by Tipper- ary-born comedian and actor Tom O’ Mahony, best known for his role as Tarquin on RTÉ’s Republic of Telly.

Having spent months getting ready for the cameras, the films have now been shot in locations across Kerry and they will be shown on the big screen at the INEC on Thursday, March 29.

Following the premiere of the movies, those taking part in the productions will be chosen for the Oskars with seven Oskars to be presented on the night for leading roles and favourite films with input from the audience.

Up to 2,000 people will attend the film premieres in what is set to be Killarney’s glitziest ever movie affair.

Tickets are selling out fast for what promises to be a fantastic night of entertainment.

This week The Kerryman is giving a short preview of the locally made movies and their very talented local casts.
