Liebherr announce latest scholarship
LIEBHERR Container Cranes in Killarney is inviting applications for its 2018 Engineering Scholarship Programme.
The Engineering Scholarship Programme provides a unique opportunity for Leaving Certificate and first year college students to gain a third level qualification, in an engineering course.
Liebherr will hold an Engineering Scholarship open evening this Thursday, March 22 from 5:30 pm to provide information to interested students, parents and teachers.
Engineers from a variety of disciplines will be available on the evening to provide practical advice to students regarding engineering as a career choice, and to show examples of their daily work.
To date four students were awarded the scholarships including Shane Hanafin, a past pupil of St Brendan’s College in Killarney who is now a third year student in Mechatronics at the Institute of Technology, Tralee.
“Financially the scholarship has been invaluable, but it is the experience which I have gained through my work experience in Liebherr which has given me an edge over my college peers in terms of my knowledge and understanding of engineering theories. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working and learning from colleagues with vast knowledge and experience, who are more than willing to help. I would encourage anyone who has an interest in engineering to consider the Liebherr Engineering Scholarship Programme” said Shane
Those interested in applying for a scholarship should apply by email to gradrecruit.lcc@ liebherr.com by June 1 2018. Applicants should include a CV detailing school or college projects and results and a cover letter explaining why they have chosen engineering as a career path.
