Smiles all around at Cahersiveen & Sneem festivities
IT was a day of laughter for the people of Sneem as they watched their parade from the streets.
The parade in Sneem this year held quite a few giggles as well as serious issues.
The humorous side was brought out this year as the parade had floats that everyone related to.
It displayed floats that represented the bread crisis during storm Emma and they even had their very own Dancing with The Stars float.
As well as that, they had a nun and a priest announce their engagement for 2040.
While the parade was seen as funny there was also some serious issues brought up like ocean pollution.
A float entitled “Swimming in a sea of plastic” showcased the amount of plastic and pollution that can be found in oceans.
Overall the parade was a huge success among everyone and it was enjoyed by all.
Similarly, in a town not so far away, the Cahersiveen parade also showed it’s funny bone to the crowd.
The parade was spearheaded by St Patrick himself accompanied by two Irish wolfhounds.
However, St Patrick was spotted with a challenge as a giant snake followed him around the parade route.
Another funny aspect of the Cahersiveen Parade was the ‘Prisoners of the Old Barracks’, women who were jailed for not having a dog or a TV licence.
The parade also featured the Darkness into Light walk and a parade of Tractors.
While there were many more floats involved, Rince Ína School of Irish Dancing was one of the best. The girls did a beautiful set at the end of the parade in the square that wowed the crowd.
