Congratula­tions to Pobal Scoil Inbhear Sceine, Kenmare who recently defeated Mitchelsto­wn CBS in the final of the Munster Senior Colleges B Championsh­ip. The final score was Pobal Scoil Inbhear Sceine 3:14 Mitchelsto­wn CBS 1:10. The following Kilgarvan Players were part ot the team/panel Jack Foley, Daniel Casey, Donal O’Sullivan Down (Captain), Liam Twomey and Gary Randles. The team now go forward to meet winners of the Ulster Championsh­ip which has yet to take place on Wednesday March 28th at 2:00pm in Abbotstown County Dublin. Well done to School Principal Dermot Healy and his staff and team management Michael Ned O’Sullivan, Tom O’Connor, Michael O’Sullivan, Shane O’Sullivan, Colm Horgan and Sean O’Shea.

INDOOR GAMES:

The annual Kerry athletics U-9 U-10 U-11 and U-12 indoor developmen­t games were held at the Nagle Rice Community Centre, Milltown on Saturday 10th March 2018. The Kenmare club athletes had a very successful games placing second to arch rivals Tralee Harriers with a team score of 52 points to Tralee’s 81 points. Listowel were a close 3rd with 49 points. The following six athletes four Kilgarvan athletes and two athletes from the neighbouri­ng townland of Caher did very well. Sisters Ellen and Maggie O’ Donoghue won a total of nine medals. Ellen won the U-10 long jump and was 1st in the Speed Bounce. Maggie won the girls U-11 Speed Bounce, Maggie had in previous years won the same event in U-9 and U-10. In the sprint and Long Jump Maggie placed 2nd. In the girls relay U-11 both girls were members of the successful Kenmare Relay Team that placed 1st. Maggie won her 5th Medal as a member of the Kenmare B Team that placed 3rd in the U-12 relay team. Ellen won her 4th Medal as a member of the U-10 relay team that placed 2nd. Niamh Sheehan Limewoods, Kilgarvan was also a member of this successful team. Heather Randles ran a very good leg in the girls U-12 A relay team that placed 2nd. Aoibhe Kelleher and Lilly Gaine from the neighbouri­ng townland Caher East competed in the girls U-9 competitio­ns. Both girls were members of the successful U-9 Kenmare relay team that placed 1st. Aoibhe Kelleher was placed 2nd in both the girls U-9 Long Jump and Speed Bounce. Lilly Gaine was 3rd in the U-9 Long Jump.

SHOWCASE:

On Thursday March 15th at 11:30am Kilgarvan Central School as part of the primary schools junior entreprene­ur awareness and skills enhancemen­t programme showcased the magnificen­t magnets that they created.

MAGICAL ALL STARS:

Live tribute show 2018 tour at Shamrocks Hurling Football Club Kenmare takes place on Saturday 24th March 2018 starting at 3pm. Tickets €10 each or family of 5 €40, tickets available on arrival. Doors open 30 minutes before show.

MS COLLECTION:

The annual Multiple Sclerosis Church gate collection takes place on the weekend of 24th and 25th March 2018. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

COLLECTION:

Kilgarvan Community Council will hold their annual Church Gate Collection on the weekend of 7th and 8th of April 2018. Your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

COUNTY CLEAN UP:

The Annual County clean up takes place on Saturday 14th April 2018. Kilgarvan Tidy Towns are looking for volunteers to help with the clean up. Meeting at St Patricks Church Kilgarvan at 12 noon. All are welcome.
