Tales from behind the lens

-

THEY say a picture paints a thousand words and this is very true given the new exhibition by Killarney Camera Club The story behind the photograph.

The latest exhibition by talented local photographers is a wonderful collection of photographs all with their own story and meaning and many of them are very personal to those who captured the images.

The photos included portraits of family members, wonderful landscape of locations across Killarney including Ross Castle in the recent snow, as well as images from travels across the world including in locations as far flung as India.

Each photographer has included a short story with their chosen print to explain the story behind their chosen image.

Killarney Camera Club has been in existence for over 15 years and the club holds regular exhibitions aimed at en- couraging members to “print their works” according to chairman, Terry MacSweeney.

“We all have photos but we don’t print them and this is a way to showcase our photos. It encourages members to print them and to get them framed.”

Over 40 photographs are on display at the exhibition which runs at Killarney Library until Friday, April 6.

The exhibition was officially opened on Thursday night by well-known professional photographer, Keith Woodard of Gallery 21.

Over 50 people attended the launch and it is now hoped that the public will pay a visit to Killarney Library and see the unique exhibition.
