Thursday is movie night!

Glenflesk and Kilcummin GAA clubs are bringing their own version of the Oscars (OsKaRs). Following last week’s preview here are the remaining three entries.

THE red carpet is ready and the OsKaRs are lined up – all that remains to see is just who will hit the limelight in Killarney this Thursday night as the entire local community and nearby parishes get set to experience Hollywood on their own doorstep.

The inaugural OsKaRS are coming to Killarney this Thursday, March 29, when Killarney actors and actresses will don their glad rags and walk the red carpet at the INEC.

The local talent pool has been very busy getting ready for the big night following their very own production of some well known classic films.

The seven films to feature on the night are Forrest Gump, The Snapper, Sister Act, A Few Good Women, The Field, Father Ted and Michael Collins.

The cast and crew of each film spent months preparing for their own unique production of their favourite films, which were shot in locations across Kerry in recent weeks and now the final cuts will be premiered at the INEC on Thursday night.

The audience of up to 2,000 will then get a chance to nominate their favourite film for the Best Film at the OsKaRs.

Oscar nomination­s on the night will also will include Best Actor and Best Actress, Best Support Actor and Actress and Best Producer and Best Costumes.

These will be judged by Irish actor Barry Keough who has caught Hollywood’s eye for

his standout performanc­es in ‘Dunkirk’ along with Maeve McGrath of the Kerry Film Festival and Kerry’s own stage and screen actor, Donal Courtney.

Tickets, priced €25, are on sale

at several venues including the INEC Box Office Tickets; Kilcummin Post Office and O’Brien’s, Glenflesk; Who’s for Shoes, High Street & Variety Sounds, College Street Killarney.
