The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Cloghane offers weekend of ceol, craic and walking
THE hills around Clochán Bhréanainn will be a magnet for walkers this weekend, and what could be better after a day on the hills than a night listening to music.
That’s exactly what’s on offer at the Clochán Bréanainn Hill Walking and Music Festival which runs from this Saturday to Easter Monday, offering activities for all the family and or all levels of fitness.
Anybody who doesn’t fancy heading for the hills can stroll along the shore for the seaweed foraging walk and learn about the edible offerings available on our coast from Darach ó Mhrchú. And those who are of a mind to be present in the here and now have the option of a mindfulness walk led by Hugh O’Donovan.
On the music side of things P J Murrihy will strike up a tune in Halla le Cheile on Saturday night and, aside from that, music and general good craic can be expected in the local pubs. Registration for the walks opens in Halla le Chéile in Brandon, one hour before departure, apart from the Fairy Glade Walk for which registrations will be taken in the information centre in Clochán.
