Sibling success in model-making finals

MODEL MAKING

THE County Finals of the Model Making competitio­n took place in Castleisla­nd on Friday with many excellent models being produced by the children on the night. Six talented families had siblings competing and winning medals.

Listowel had the Trant children Ellen U10, Katie U12 and David U14 all winning gold. The O’Connors from Kenmare, Oisin 1st U10, David 2nd & Aoibheann 3rd U12. Casey sisters Ballyheigu­e Saoirse 1st U16 & Molly 2nd U14.

The Welch sisters Duagh/ Lyre Brennagh U10, Keearagh U12, Teghan U14 & Erin U16 all won prizes. Brothers Hassin and Abrihim Altayan, St Brendans/ Oakpark, won bronze. Warren and Bradleigh Smith, Dromid/Caherdanie­l, were 3rd and 4th in their age groups. Christophe­r Palmer and Saoirse Buckley Kenmare also won gold.

There were silver medals to Katy Galvin, Dromid, Padraig O’Shea, Firies, Ruairi Daly, Kenmare, and Rachel O’Shea, Ballymac.

Bronze medals won by Lauren Cleary, Keel/Kiltallagh, and Iseult Ni Bhriain, Ballymac.

FUTSAL BOYS U15

THE Futsal Boys Under 15 County Final took place last Sunday in Duagh with eight teams participat­ing. Spa Muckross and Kenmare advanced to the third and fourth place play off with Glenflesk and Ballybunio­n playing in the final. Very close final with teams level at full time and after extra time penalties were needed to get winner. Results: 1st Glenflesk; 2nd Ballybunio­n; 3rd Spa Muckross; 4th Kenmare. Well done to all competitor­s and thanks to our refs. We wish Glenflesk well in the Munster Finals in July.

GYMNASTICS

THE County Finals of our Gymnastics competitio­n took place in Currow Sports Hall on Sunday with 78 competitor­s competing from 25 areas. Standard as usual was very high giving the judges a difficult job. (Results next week).
