Annascaul only team in Division Three with full points

-

DIVISION THREE ONLY one team with a perfect record after two rounds and that is Annascaul who came through a tight encounter on home turf with Finuge by two points. Fionn Coakley opened the scoring for the hosts as they held a lead of 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time, Gary Hogan Finuge’s scorer-in-chief. James Scanlon scored a goal after halftime that gave Annascaul a firm grip on the game and despite Finuge keeping them on their feet for the remainder of proceedings, Jason Hickson’s scoring was a big feature in the West Kerry side’s 1-12 to 0-13 win.

Brosna, Dr Crokes B, St Pats/ Blennerville and Waterville are all undefeated meanwhile as St Pats gave from two points down at half-time away to Brosna to earn a share of the spoils at 0-9 apiece. Patrick Moriarty and Adam Barry had given Brosna a lead of 0-5 to 0-3 but St Pats managed to find their way through a blanket defence with Willie Hurley and Liam O’Sullivan registering scores. Luke Mulligan looked like even giving the St Brendans side a win only for Barry to rescue Brosna at the end with the equalising score. Eoin Brosnan was the player to ensure Dr Crokes B left Lispole with a share of the spoils meanwhile as they came from three points down at the break to draw themselves.

Declan O’Sullivan and Garrett Noonan helped Lispole to a lead of 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time but Crokes started the second-half better through Bryan O’Shea in going ahead by a point before Brian Rayel scored a goal to put Lispole back in charge. Mark Harnett scored a goal for Crokes to level the game up at 1-10 apiece as O’Sullivan looked like giving Lispole the win until Brosnan’s late intervention for the Killarney side. Waterville meanwhile despite scoring a first-half goal to lead by 1-4 to 0-6 at the break coughed up some late points in East Kerry side Listry earning a draw at 1-8 to 0-11.

Elsewhere St Senans and Laune Rangers were amongst the sides to pick up their first wins as Finuge and Ballydonoghue are the only ones without any points from the first two games.

St Senans put four goals past Keel, three of those coming in the second period as they turned a lead of 1-9 to 0-6 at half-time into a 4-12 to 0-10 success. Senans led by 0-5 to 0-1 before a goal from Eoin O’Connell put them seven ahead. Gary Sayers and Aaron Murphy made the scoreline a bit more respectable for Keel at the break in trailing by 1-9 to 0-6 but despite reducing the margin to four after the restart, the Mountcoal side reasserted dominance from there. Sean O’Connell scored their second goal before David Foran added a brace as Luke Lynch in the Senans goal kept Keel out at the other end in a 14 point win for his side.

Laune Rangers won the other North Kerry versus Mid Kerry battle meanwhile, as they left it late to succeed on home turf against Ballydonoghue.

A Paul Kennelly penalty gave the visitors a lead of 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time but the second-half was very free scoring as Patrick Carey levelled it up for Rangers with their first goal. Jim Cremin scored Ballydonoghue’s second soon after and when the North Kerry Champions added a third from a second penalty it looked like the Killorglin side would be beaten again on home turf. The game turned a ‘45’ dropping short, however, as Carey scored his second with Kevin Fitzpatrick putting in a rebound from a Colm O’Shea shot to give the hosts an unlikely 3-14 to 3-11 win.
