League continues with Causeway and Kilmoyley leading the way

ROUND 2 of the Credit Union Co. Senior hurling league Division 1 last weekend saw wins for St. Brendan’s, Causeway and Ballyduff.

On Friday evening two games were played under lights; at Caherslee, St. Brendan’s had a 1-19 to 2-11 win over Ballyheigu­e while at Abbeydorne­y, Causeway had a 1-17 to 2-8 win over the home side.

On Saturday at Ballyduff, the home side gained their first league points with a 4-12 to 1-12 win over Lixnaw. The Crotta O’Neills v Kilmoyley game was played on Monday evening at Dromakee with Kilmoyley winning 1-9 to 0-10.

Round 3 games for this weekend are: Friday, March 30, Lixnaw v Crotta and Ballyduff v Causeway, both at 6pm; Saturday, March 31 Abbeydorne­y v Ballyheigu­e at 6pm and on Sunday, April 1 at Ardfert, St. Brendan’s v Kilmoyley at 2.30pm.

Todd Nolan Hurling Tournament

THE 2018 Todd Nolan inter county hurling tournament will take place on this Saturday, March 31 at both the Crotta GAA grounds at Dromakee (for the first time) and the Abbeydorne­y GAA grounds.

The Kerry minor (Under 17) team will compete with Under 16 Developmen­t squads from Limerick, Cork and Waterford. Fixtures are as follows: semi-finals (12 noon) - Waterford v Kerry at Crotta O’Neill’s GAA Club and Limerick v Cork at Abbeydorne­y.

The two winners go forward to the cup final at 2pm in Dromakee with the Shield Final at 2pm in Abbeydorne­y. This tournament, which commenced in 2008, commemorat­es the former Kerry and Crotta O’Neill’s hurler, Todd Nolan – he also played Railway Cup hurling with Munster in 1969 and won a County Senior Championsh­ip medal with Crotta in 1968.

LEE Strand Under 16 County Hurling League Round 3 fixtures for this Thursday, March 29 at 6.30pm: Division 1 - Ballyduff v Abbeydorne­y; Crotta v Kenmare/ Kilgarvan; Ballyheigu­e bye.

Division 2 - Kenmare/Kilgarvan v Lixnaw; Tralee Parnells v St. Brendan’s; Kilmoyley bye. Round 4 is fixed for Thursday, 5 April. Results to Timmy Weir (Abbeydorne­y), the Under-16 hurling co-ordinator.

The Lee Strand Under 12 hurling leagues will commence on Friday, April 6, 7pm and will continue each Friday until May 18. Kenmare/Kilgarvan and Tralee Parnell’s have entered teams in all three divisions.

One game, Ballyheigu­e v Causeway has been brought forward to Easter Monday, April 2 at Ballyheigu­e, 3pm. John Ross (Ballyduff) will be the co-ordinator for this competitio­n.

Féile na nGael

DATES for the Kerry Under 14 Féile na nGael competitio­n are Saturday, April 28 and Saturday, May 5 with the finals on Monday, May 7.

It will be divided into three groups as follows:

The A Group will comprise of Abbeydorne­y, Ballyduff, Ballyheigu­e, Crotta, Lixnaw and Kenmare/Kilgarvan. The B Group will involve the four teams from the A Group above who do not reach the final.

The C Group will include Causeway, Kilmoyley, St. Brendan’s, Tralee Parnells and South Kerry. One team from each of the Groups will qualify for the National Féile competitio­ns to be hosted by the Connacht GAA on the weekend of June 8-10.
